About the role:




In this role as Lead Developer, you will use your strong leadership capabilities to work side by side with our client, Arch Insurance, at their location in Jersey City, NJ. Along with a dedicated team of resources, you will own end-to-end development activities including leading and reviewing the technical work of team members.



This position may be based out of our Hartford, CT office or may be a remote employment arrangement. Presence onsite at Arch Insurance’s Jersey City, NJ office is required approximately 50% of the time.



What you’ll be doing:




  • Lead SDLC estimation and development processes


  • Determine, define, and design technical solutions


  • Develop and present technical documentation and impact assessments for software solutions for targeted audience, which may include internal resources and external clients


  • Write code and unit tests according to Insurity standards, following an approved technical solution, for enhancements and bug fixes


  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to team members, including 3rd party partners


  • Provide peer-reviews of designs, code, and artifact delivery


  • Collaborate with Business Analysts to complete the technical components of functional specifications


  • Ensure Insurity coding standards are adhered to and improve standards as needed


  • Perform in-depth technical troubleshooting, defect investigation, and remediation


  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, technical guidance, and performance feedback to team members


  • Stay up-to-date on industry and job-related trends and best practices, including reading relevant publications, articles, blogs, etc.


  • Other duties as assigned



What you'll need:




  • Ability to be present onsite at the client’s location in Jersey City, NJ approximately 50% of the time


  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken, in English - mandatory


  • 8+ years of software development experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (equivalent work experience may be considered)


  • Demonstrated leadership aptitude


  • Highly proficient with:



    • MS Office


    • Object-oriented principles


    • SOLID principles


    • Databases and data structures


    • Version control systems


    • XML/JSON



  • Experience in the insurance domain considered an asset
