Software Development Manager




ObjectRocket is looking for a Software Development Manager who will lead a team responsible for building the next generation platform for Database-as-a-Service. You will work in a dynamic team environment to develop high quality releases using the agile software development methodology. Passion for software development and quality is a must!

Responsibilities




  • Development of the ObjectRocket product portfolio


  • Build and nurture a cohesive and powerful collection of top notch software engineers that collaborate with other teams to deliver scalable, supportable products


  • Collaborate with Product Management to ensure that the features being developed solve customer problems and are what customers desire


  • Provide estimates and plans for development efforts


  • Implement appropriate development methodologies (i.e., SCRUM/Agile/Kanban), best practices, documentation, and tools


  • Develop and foster a culture that is focused on providing value to customers and a mindset of continual improvement in everything we do


  • Assess and communicate risks based on complexity, resource and timeline constraints


  • Reporting regular status to Engineering and Product Management


  • Own operational metrics for your team’s software






Required Experience/Skills:



  • 5+ years total software management experience, comprising:


    • Experience in a manager role (people management) - must have shipped or deployed more than one v1.0 product releases and more than one point release for each as a Manager or above


    • Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams across product line boundaries


    • Proven ability to work independently with other department personnel in a very dynamic timeline sensitive work environment.


    • Demonstrates sound rationale in making design trade-offs for feature areas across complex solutions.


    • Identifies risks and dependencies for feature.


    • ENJOY leading, coaching, mentoring, and growing developers


    • Demonstration of technical leadership at a Business Unit/Company-wide level.


    • Calm, steady demeanor during stressful and complex situations


    • Experience with open source community software projects is not required but a significant plus


    • Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and time management skills


    • Proven ability to mentor upcoming team leaders to be effective


    • Working experience utilizing Continuous Integration/Deployment concepts and streamlined delivery of code
