We are searching for an experienced software engineer to join our rapidly expanding R&D team to help lead the engineering efforts on our next-generation eCommerce offering. With tens of thousands of existing eCommerce stores on our platform globally, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in USD GMV, there are unlimited opportunities to improve the current state of the art, as well as build a platform to attract the next ten thousand stores. Experience in eCommerce and in web hosting technologies is desired, but we are also happy to help you learn our stack as long as you have a history of mastering other languages and technologies quickly. The day to day

  • Design, write, test, integrate, and maintain software applications that are resilient, robust, and perform at scale

  • Continuously improve WP Engine’s secure, performant eCommerce platform that supports tens of millions of transactions across tens of thousands of stores

  • Write clean, maintainable code

  • Improve test coverage and build deployment pipelines to safely and rapidly push new code to production

  • Work closely with Product Management to ensure that your frequent, incremental code changes provide customer value

  • We are fanatical about automation because we invest for the future. You will be expected to constantly look for opportunities to automate and optimize

  • Research new technologies and incorporate them into new and existing systems and products (e.g. Kubernetes is a recent focus)

  • Be an outstanding teammate to the other members of your scrum team

Your expertise and passion

  • 5-7 years of writing high quality, maintainable, deployable, testable, and highly usable software applications (in any language)

  • WordPress & eCommerce experience is strongly recommended

  • Proven history of continuous learning and ability to stay ahead of technology trends

  • Natural problem solving abilities, an inquisitive personality, and an eagerness to take on the challenge of big problems

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excels in an Agile environment using Scrum methodologies

  • You are passionate about working alongside customers to determine solution best fits their needs

  • Bonus: Experience working with complex, large-scale public cloud deployments hosted across international data centers

  • Bonus: Production experience with containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)
