Software Developer (DevOps)

Position Objective

We are looking for someone to join our Managed Services team as a software developer. You will work with the team to understand requirements for product features, and then will be responsible for implementing, verifying, and demonstrating performance of the features. Development will involve both expanding existing features and code base, as well as developing code for new features. Most applications are database centric. Some involve gathering and storing data using numerous communication protocols (REST, SOAP, XML, SSH etc.). Others involve complex database queries and data presentation and modeling to present results to end users.

This position requires an individual who is a true team player and is eager and excited to learn new skills and software. You are guaranteed to be challenged in this position, and the ideal candidate is excited by this. We are looking for an individual who is comfortable working through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). At times, this position will involve working with developing code to interface to unfamiliar equipment or platforms. The candidate will be required to first gain an understanding how it functions and communicates, and then to develop code to interact with the device meeting agreed upon requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Work as an embedded member of an engineering team supporting our CI/CD processes and infrastructure

  • Design and implement monitoring and data collection from a wide range of data platforms and devices

  • Build automation processes to eliminate manual tasks, and take meaningful action form the data collected

  • Implement data integrations with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Q360) to populate incidents with meaningful data to accelerate remediation

  • Incorporate AI/ML into data analysis processes for deeper visibility into monitored system performance and issue trending

  • Participate in roadmap development and scheduling, and then prioritize your tasks to ensure that deadlines you committed to are met

  • Learn something new every day and be constantly challenged

What You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Web Systems, or other related degree (or professional work experience equivalent)

  • 1-3 years of professional work experience developing and maintaining corporate applications in a DevOps environment

  • Proficiency in Linux and scripting (Bash and Python)

  • Fluency in databases structure and queries (MySQL, MariaDB)

  • Automation experience using PowerShell or Python

  • Demonstrated ability to write clean, readable, structured, and well documented code

  • Experience with data integrity, regression, performance testing

  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Proven ability to learn and become proficient with unfamiliar technology or applications

  • Excellent communication skills
