Ultimate Software is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Ultipro Tax Engine Data Team. The individual will be responsible for helping to build and optimize our data pipelines. We’re interested in people with a strong background that are motivated and open to challenges.



This position requires technical excellence with complex and distributed systems, along with a strong ability to communicate both within your team, and across the organization. We work in small teams with daily standups, regular releases, and a culture of ownership.



Primary/Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:



  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications

  • Ensure quality, performance, and stability of solutions

  • Provide deployment tools and automation

  • Solve challenging engineering tasks on time and with high quality


Required Qualifications:



  • Python,

  • Java, JavaScript, TypeScript

  • Angular,

  • MySQL, MongoDB,

  • Docker

  • Linux scripting, operations, and deployment

  • 5+ years of experience in a Software Engineer role

  • 5 years of experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.

  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • 5 years of experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including SQL server, Mongo, Postgres and MariaDB

  • Working knowledge of DevOps methodology and Site Reliability Engineering

  • GCP experience


Education:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, another quantitative field or relevant work experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Google Cloud, BigQuery, Cloud storage, Cloud SQL, Data Prep, Data Flow

  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with numerous large- scale SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets.

  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.

  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.

  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable data stores.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.

  • Working knowledge of DevOps methodology and Site Reliability Engineering


Physical Requirements:



  • Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
