Strategic Partnerships Lead, Agency Partners (Remote, Americas)




More than 1 million business owners around the world are powered by Shopify, and many of them are looking for help building and customizing their stores. The Shopify Partner Program includes a global network of agencies and freelancers that provide Shopify merchants with custom commerce solutions. This community is unbelievably important to Shopify and to the success of our merchants.   



The Strategic Partnerships team is growing and looking to hire a Lead for our agency partnerships team focused on our North American market. The team’s mandate is to manage and grow high impact agency partnerships that can drive high-quality merchant growth in North America, leveraging our partner program. Developing the strategy, establishing success criteria, and setting up the team for success will be a key part of the job. As a leader, you will be responsible for growing the team to serve our core markets and will be deeply involved in cross-discipline program development to drive foundational growth for the partner ecosystem. 



As a team with a constant, direct connection to our partners, the team also plays a pivotal role in shaping the product and programs by advocating for partner needs and points of view internally.



You'll be responsible for:



    • Managing top tier partner agency accounts that participate in our Partner Program;

    • Building relationships with commerce-focused agencies, while coaching them on ways to deepen our relationship by adding more value to Shopify;

    • Liaising with internal teams on partnership opportunities (e.g. Retail, Capital, Marketing);

    • Working across disciplines and product lines to advocate for partners and the team;

    • Being a vocal leader and active contributor to foundational projects that will direct how the Platform team and specifically how the Strategic Partnership Managers (SPMs) go to market with our partners (e.g. Experts Marketplace, Partner Program, agency opportunities);

    • Delivering feedback and insights from agency partners to help inform and improve product strategy at Shopify;

    • Working with the team and relevant stakeholders to develop Go to Market playbooks;

    • Developing a highly scalable yet personal outreach approach for tactical opportunities to advance Shopify products; 

    • Ruthlessly prioritizing and guide others on how to do the same;

    • Measuring, managing, and optimizing the efforts of the partner managers.




Managing a team will include:



    • Recruiting, developing, and leading the SPM Account Management team in North America;

    • Working closely with other partnership leaders to develop career paths and appropriate measurements for individuals on your team;

    • Managing direct report functions and rituals: stand-ups and 1:1s, etc.;

    • Responsible for team metrics, results, and managing your team’s performance;

    • Comfort with regular call coaching;

    • Helping build a fun, high energy and collaborative remote environment.




Requirements:



    • High energy, high integrity leader; able to motivate, inspire and drive results;

    • Track record of excellence and achievement in account management; 

    • Previous management experience preferred. Proven ability to coach others will be considered.; 

    • Understanding of ecosystem relationships and how to acquire and grow external partners;

    • Comfort managing and growing a decentralized, remote team;

    • A love for data and how it can help influence strategies and tactics;

    • Desire to get your hands dirty and make an impact. 🚀
